CHLOE GOSSELIN
For designer Chloe Gosselin, Fashion is a gateway to artistry, self expression, and community.
Whether it’s through the emboldened lens of her own luxury footwear brand, dreaming up fresh, artistic sets, designs, and concepts, or using her vision and voice for the greater good, designer Chloe Gosselin has long been at ease in the creative driver’s seat.
Born in Normandy, France, as a child Gosselin inhabited an inspirational world, shaped by both art and fashion—two disciplines she always perceived as one.
“It isn’t like art and fashion are two separate parts of my identity,” remarked the designer. “They were and always will be intertwined. Painting, sketching, from concept to creation, it’s all a part of me.”
As far back as she can remember, Gosselin was constantly drawing fashion silhouettes and shoes. The latter being her favorite.
After graduating in Fine Arts at La Cambre, Brussels and a decade spent around the World modelling she settled in New York City, where after the birth of her daughter, Sky, she would return to sketching and painting.
Chloe Gosselin launched her eponymous brand during New York Fashion week in February 2014, quickly stealing the industry’s attention with a reimagined take on timelessness.
Since the brand’s inception, Gosselin’s shoes have been handcrafted in Italy, establishing her tenets of quality, craft, and design—the hallmarks of Italian tradition. Defining footwear as a bridge between fine art and fashion, her collections best exude wearable sculpture.
Gosselin’s background as a painter becomes all the more apparent in her exploration as a designer, matching a single shade to various materials, reveling in an interplay of light, color, and texture. Equally telling is her preference for subtle, distinct detail over loud branding.
The CG brand has since become a staple on the red carpet, with major moments at the Met Gala, Grammy Awards, and the Golden Globes, worn by celebrities such as Taylor Swift, Zoe Saldana, Celine Dion, Hailey Bieber, and Alicia Keys, amongst many others. The brand has been sold at retailers such as Barneys, Le Bon Marché, Le Printemps, Level, Shopbop, Bloomingdale’s, Harvey Nichols, Galeries Lafayette, Lane Crawford, and Hudson’s Bay, though it is now DTC only.
As ambassador for the American Wild Horse Campaign, advocating for the protection and preservation of wild horse populations, as well as sitting on the board of directors of Nevada’s The Center, where she serves the LGBTQIA+ community, Gosselin is right at home with taking a larger, more influential stance on issues that are near and dear to her heart.
A member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), Gosselin was a finalist for the 2016 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. In 2018, she was celebrated as a Vogue Italia Talent, along with receiving the Emerging Talent prize at the Footwear News Achievement Awards, recognized as a rising star in luxury footwear.
